There are too many telltale signs of a postpartum Mommy to count – the limp hair, the unwashed clothes….is that spit up on your chin? What if I told you that you could get rid of one of them virtually overnight? No, I cannot prevent your tummy from still looking 6 months pregnant for weeks after delivery, but I CAN do something for your eyes.
During my pre-baby time as the Merchandising Director at Birchbox, I tried a LOT of eye creams. Like…a ton. I’ve always struggled with dark circles and bags under my eyes, so you can imagine how I looked once I brought my new baby home. Some eye creams helped a little, some were totally useless, and almost all of them were really expensive! Then, I stumbled across a tub of IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream hiding in the back of my massive drawer of skincare products.
The cream was developed by plastic surgeons and has cool blue tint – created specifically to minimize dark shadows. What I love most about it is that it truly helps with both dark circles and wrinkles – in my experience, creams generally only help with one or the other, despite what they may claim. I have been wearing concealer every day since high school, and after using the cream for a few weeks (even with a new baby), I stopped needing so much of it. Just a dab, if anything. I also noticed a big difference in the bags under my eyes. I was a new woman!
While this is my top personal pick, there are several other excellent eye creams I recommend for Moms who are pregnant, nursing, or simply prefer natural ingredients.
In the higher price range, Tata Harper Restorative Eye Crème is an ultra luxurious yet lightweight cream which targets fine lines and dark circles. All of Tata’s products are handmade on her farm in Vermont…and basically smell like freshly cut wildflowers. Talk about an in-home spa experience.
Another decadent natural option is True Botanicals Deep Repair Eye Serum. Same targeted concerns as the Tata Cream, but a lighter, oil based product. This brand is also small batch produced in the USA (California, to be specific), which I love. If you’re feeling like you really want to treat yourself, I’d suggest using Tata Harper’s Restorative Eye Creme in the mornings and True Botanicals Deep Repair Eye Serum in the evening.
Not interested in breaking the bank, but still want amazing results? Look no further than ACURE Radically Rejuvenating Eye Cream. Targeting the same concerns as our pricier options, Acure offers great bang for your buck and is light, easy to apply, and comes in a small tube that’s perfect for travel.
No matter which one you choose, you’re eyes will be poppin’ in no time. And if anyone has a tip for curing that post-baby belly….send it our way!
